"Magnificence" is an award-winning piece of storytelling ("Best English Text" Montreal Fringe 2019) by Keir Cutler, loosely adapted from May Ebbitt Cutler's (Keir's mother) memoir from her childhood titled "I Once Knew An Indian Woman." It is an entirely Canada-based narrative in which Keir describes his own childhood experience with his late mother's story and then gives a first hand account of a touching act of "magnificence" that his mother was an eyewitness to in the 1930s at Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. The work received several rave reviews in 2019 from appearing at the Montreal, Ottawa and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals."A touching story of goodwill, generosity, and humanity that no audience member will forget." Desiree Goldwater, Montreal Theatre Hub (2019 Montreal Fringe)."A magnificent storytelling experience . . . brilliantly delivered by Cutler, whose technique on stage is absolutely flawless." Anna Fuerstenberg, Montreal Rampage (2019 Montreal Fringe). "Strong performance . . .[of] Cutler's generous, insightful monologue." Patrick Langston, Artsfile (2019 Ottawa Fringe). "Cutler delivers a well crafted and structured monologue, and certainly knows how to weave a good story from beginning to end, especially when he fills it with lots of heart, humour and reflection." Stuart Nulman, Montreal Times (2019 Montreal Fringe). "Cutler, an assured and mesmerizing monologist, . . . [is] likable and big-hearted..." Jim Burke, Maisonneuve Magazine (2019 Montreal Fringe). "Magnificence is Keir Cutler's bouquet to his beloved, talented mother, who died in 2011." Barbara Popel, Apt613 (2019 Ottawa Fringe). "4 1/2 stars! Compelling . . . moving story shows that compassion is deeply rooted in the practical and the capacity for right action." Wendy King, Winnipeg Free Press (2019 Winnipeg Fringe)."The tale is completely engaging, made more moving by its being fact not fiction." Lisa Campbell, Jenny Revue, (2019 Winnipeg Fringe).
