Loss comes in many forms. There is the loss of a child by a parent, the unspeakable loss from suicide, the loss of a much loved pet or partner. All impact on us in different ways and we cannot see beyond the suffocating pain which accompanies loss. There are other forms of loss such as the loss of health and opportunity whose impact may be lifelong. The author examines the reluctant journey we must endure to find a way through the transition. If it negotiated properly, then it can lead to new understanding. The author illustrates the book well with the voices of those who have lost loved ones including some from her own experience. This is a book which needs to be read by those wanting to come alongside others.
