When Bobby meets Julie during an idyllic summer in the 1950s, they begin a relationship that will haunt them until the ends of their lives. Bobby is an insecure boy. Julie is overflowing with confidence. Bobby becomes smitten with both Julie and her parents. Except for two school dropouts who seem to have nothing better to do than to harass the pair, the summer passes like a beautiful dream for them. That dream ends when fate intrudes and turns it into a nightmare. Through it all, it seems they will persevere. Until they don't.
