Golf math is generally addition, subtraction division, and multiplication. Everything you learned throughout your school days. We find some algebra and geometry that helps us find area and square footage. Many ask what the big deal is and it's a very simple explanation. You assistants and spray techs need to know how much your putting down and remain compliant with state laws. It is also included on many state pesticide applicator tests. Irrigation techs need to know what percentages of water is being used and amounts being placed in certain areas. You will need to know how much water is being drained from irrigation sources, especially if the greens committees or local environmental groups ask for specifics. Budget math is similar, especially if you need to know time allowances for budgeting, equipment usage and repair times, down times, and expenditures. It's also helpful to know budgeting basics to see where expenses are overriding savings to adjust for the year and future planning.
