Elsie Popken
Elsie Popken grew up near the farming community of West Point, Nebraska. She and her husband, Marvin, farmed near Fremont until his death in 2013. Elsie was an active volunteer in her church, and other ministries, such as Aglow Women's Fellowship. Her heart for Jesus and her passionate desire that others know Him, motivated her daily. Elsie resides in Fremont, Nebraska. This memoir chronicles the life of a young farm girl raised during the Depression in rural Nebraska, and her decision to follow Jesus Christ later in her life. Elsie Popken's transformation from a fearful anxious young mother to a passionate disciple of Jesus Christ is carefully recorded in the relationships with her family and friends. This decision changed the trajectory of her family, as noted by the answers to faithful prayers and the divine intervention of God in the Popken family. Growing up on a farm, attending Catholic boarding school, going to dances as a teen, working as a single girl in a nearby town, meeting and marrying the love of her life, Marvin, having children and farming with her husband build her story. Throughout the book, the common thread is God drawing her into relationship with Him.
