Genetic testing revealed she carries the BRCA1+ gene which increases her risk for other cancers. She endured 6 rounds of chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy with several reconstruction surgeries. At the age of 43, Marenda made the difficult decision to have a prophylactic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy with a total hysterectomy. Marenda is committed to inspiring women to survive, thrive and live life abundantly.
