The Preacher's Words - Ecclesiastes, it's not a word we probably use every day. The Hebrew word is "qohelet", and it is pronounced "KoHay-leth". The word actually has several meanings: -It can mean "preacher."-It can mean "speaker."-It can mean "wise sage."I have read that the word, Ecclesiastes carries with it the idea of, a speaker before an assembly. The Greek word "ecclesia" comes from this word and this word speaks of the church or the assembly. This commentary contains the writings of the Preacher. They are the words of King Solomon - the wisest man who ever lived. Ecclesiastes is the journal of one man's search for meaning and purpose to life under the sun. But isn't this the search of every human soul under the sun? Every person wants to know the meaning of life. You do, I do, and so does everyone around us. The people you see around you are on a quest to discover the meaning and purpose of life.
