"Memorial" is an amazingly powerful play set against the background of the dedication ceremonies for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982. A continual barrage of short scenes, unforgettable images, and horrific moments on a bare stage create a mosaic that makes the war in Vietnam and the men and women who fought it devastatingly real. Based largely on interviews conducted by the author with veterans of the war, the play remains the definitive theatricalization of the Vietnam experience. The play has a cast of 4 women and 6 men, but variation is possible both in gender and in size of the cast. Unit set.
