21 SHORT PLAYS FOR THE 21st CENTURY by Marfa Shorthorns. Presented by Marfa Live Arts. Marfa, Texas (population 1,981), is located in the vast region of Far West Texas. Sharing a border with Mexico, Marfa's culture and people are deeply rooted in la frontera (the border) and its stories. Every year since 2011, the Marfa Live Arts Playwriting Program has hosted a Latinx playwright-in-residence for a week-long course at Marfa High School. This book contains 21 of the best student plays written under the mentorship of playwright Mónica Sánchez in April 2019. Proceeds from this book will support Marfa Live Arts' enrichment education programs. This publication is a collaboration between Marfa Live Arts and NoPassport Press.
