Just to be clear, the author, Mr. Secret Potato, never received a detention. However, as a serious middle school student, he's watched many of his classmates get many detentions on a daily basis for all sorts of reasons. Some were earned, but most weren't. Mr. Secret Potato is always fascinated as to how and why the other kids earn their detentions. There are all sorts of reasons for detentions from all sorts of people and in all sorts of situations. There are Hall Monitors. There are surprise tests. There are teachers who should be doing anything other than teaching middle school. Mr. Secret Potato persevered the worst of middle school and lived to write about it in this book.
