Shimshon Heilik
In the late 1920s the world was in turmoil. The lessons of the Great War had not been learned very well. As one of the largest minorities in Poland Jews were targetted by increasing Polish nationalism. For the most part, Jewish life continued as it had for centuries, but change was coming. Raphael is a bright young Yeshiva student struggling to fit in. His world is turned upside down when he meets the beautiful town photographer and falls in love. With strong expectations rooted in the past and optimistic hopes for a better future, this is the story of his life, loves, adventures, sorrows and joys.
