The Blue Stone A T Conway
The Blue Stone
A T Conway
Winter 1847. Eire is in the double grip of cold and hunger. At 17, Michan Maguire is the only member of his family and community left alive and he decides to make his way to England in search of work, food and a home. His only possessions are the ancient tales of his country passed down to him by his mother and a blue glass stone which he believes is a gift from the Sidhe, or fairy folk, and will bring him fortune. So, his long walk begins. By 1875 he is 45 and has settled into the life of a miner in the Durham coal fields. He and his family are used to moving from pit to pit when the new Bond comes up. He still carries a deep anger from his past, but is beginning to feel his age. When Thadeus Vail arrives to work as a reporter for the Northern Chronicle in Darlington that year he has no idea that his life will become entangled in adventure and intrigue- or that the Maguire family will be at its heart.
