Hoyt's friend then dies like a dog. His death is declared a "suicide" when the medical examiner finds a trace poison in his system during the autopsy. Hoyt doesn't believe it and begins to comb the back alleys and small towns of Hawaii for answers. Unknowingly, he jeopardizes his life and the lives of those he loves.
