Dediu Newsletter Vol. 3, N. 9, (33), 6 August 2019
Michael M Dediu
July 2019 started with hot days, and some not so hot news, but, fortunately, there are still plenty of better news: Nobel Prize-winning Directed evolution is an artificial, sped up process to make a protein perform a specified task; specialists created a 6.6 cm insect-like unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which weighs 259 milligrams; Amazon's share price climbed over 460% in the last five years; Sunday, August 4 - International Friendship Day - should be extended to all days; researchers developed non-line-of-sight optical communications that send data at 30 gigabytes per second; researchers are working on brain implants to treat cognitive impairments and neurological diseases. In this 9th newsletter of the third volume, the 33rd in total, we included the most relevant news, in a balanced approach, usually directly from the source, to help the general public better understand the realities around us. We included also several nice photos - I thank my wife for her photo assistance. Being well and correctly informed is a sine qua non requirement for everybody, in order to make the right decisions for the future, which future begins to take shape in our new chapter "The Future of People on Earth". This newsletter provides the information needed for making the best-informed decisions. Enjoy this newsletter and be optimist!
