This novel is a New Adult or YA/Adult crossover with some coarse language appropriate to characters Maggie encounters when she runs away. The story is told in two voices, Maggie's and her mother Peg's:
The plan is in place. By the time they realize she won't be back, Maggie will be in another state, in a new life. Peg thinks things are getting better. She lets Maggie go camping with a friend for the three-day weekend.
When Peg realizes Maggie is not coming back - and why - the only clue to her whereabouts is the missing journal Peg wrote when she ran away as a teen and ended up in Harrisburg. But by then, Maggie's been in the wrong place at the wrong time and warned to move on. . .
