You want to know what's on my mind? In my heart? On my soul?You want to know what makes me happy, or angry? What I believe as truth and what I discard as nonsense? You want to see thought in action? Blood and sweat and tears turned to ink, black as oil and just as valuable?Then read my words. That's the mantra/prayer/fervent wish and dream of every writer since the first cave dwellers first drew pictures of the great hunt on their walls illuminated by the campfire's faint light. Writers write so as to share their spirits. They write to tell the world - even if "the world" comprises only a handful of family and friends - what it is that moves them to think, to cry, to smile, to laugh. What inspires them to take pen to paper (or put fingers to keyboard) and announce their own "A-ha!" moments in the hopes of inspiring others to the same lofty heights, or depths, as the case may be. Whether by fiction or non, prose or poetry, a tightly scripted play or free verse guided only by the author's mental, emotional and spiritual wanderlust, writers write to share their vision, experiences, hopes and dreams. Now, WriteOn Joliet proudly offers its fourth annual anthology as an example of some of our best work this year, as our little "proof" that writing truly opens and exposes humanity to its truest nature, one word at a time.
