The Blindness of Odile is set in Cambridge, England, back in 1970 when there were still shillings but not yet mobile phones. Ambitious American grad student Odile Travers stumbles over the English language and English ways, trying to look cool and in charge, until her pride causes a fall into near-death and new life. Aided by a cast of lovable misfits, including a nice nun, a mean monk, and a ginger-haired barman, Odile lets go of striving and surrenders to love in its many forms.
