Sophia and Alex arrive at their new preschool with their mother. Miss Anna, their new teacher, introduces herself to the children. Alex is apprehensive about his mother leaving, but Miss Anna assures the children they will have a fun day of activities. The children find their new cubbies and join their new classmates in circle. They learn about methods of expressing their feelings, and then learn to share during their snack time. During outside time, they experience interaction with other children on the playground. School is a time for learning while in circle, and playing during choice time. Their mother arrives to pick up Sophia and Alex at the end of their school day. The children are anxious to return the next day to play with their new friends in the next Sophia and Alex book entitled Alex and Sophia Make Friends at School.
