The Illustrated War in the Air H G Wells
The Illustrated War in the Air
H G Wells
The classic H. G. Wells book, The War in the AIr, written before World War I but predicting the rise of airplanes in warfare. Nice edition with 16 illustrations and cover from the first 1908 edition.
The War in the Air, a military science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, is like many of Wells's works notable for its prophetic ideas, images, and concepts--in this case, the use of the aircraft for the purpose of warfare. Written before World War I and airplane warfare, the novel eerily predicts the following World Wars. In the story, German airships attack New York and reduce it to rubble. What follows is total war around the world as Asian countries also attack with aircraft and world civilization collapses.
