But no one really knows for sure. When a kidnap attempt of Lady Miriam goes wrong in Paris, it's believed the German S. S. is behind it. Working for British intelligence, a U. S. Army officer, Captain Sam Burke, is sent to the Asquith country estate to determine Lady Miriam's abilities and, if necessary, protect her. What Sam finds is a free-spirited woman with amazing abilities dismissed by her father as a "sickness." He also discovers German operatives are still after her, and a who-done-it betrayal straight out of an Agatha Christie novel. What Miriam finds is an American with a troubled past who'll do anything to keep her out of harm's way.
