Nate's past. Back in school, Nate develops a keen interest in Washington State's environmental issues. Thanks to the influence of his knowledgeable life sciences teacher, Mr. Jensen. While conducting a water quality experiment, Nate finds traces of cyanide in the Carbon River. Nate, along with his Science Club friends, Sandra, Burny, and Sam, decide to investigate the source of the deadly poison in the water. Unfortunately, their search leads them into danger.
