From small coal mining communities in West Virginia to a 22-year career in the U. S. Air Force working on jet aircraft, Jim learned to live life with integrity. In many ways he was an unusual man, going beyond the call of duty in any situation he encountered. His faith became important to him as he grew into adulthood and moved out from under the parental-type authority to more independence. God became his ultimate authority and, despite outside influences, Jim lived according to that authority. Through several near brushes with death Jim's faith brought peace and protection.
