LITTLE MUSICAL ANIMALS LITTLE MUSICAL ANIMALS began as 10 short stories about animals written in 1999 for my daughter Marina Cara Maret, when she was 7 years old. At that time, they remained unillustrated. Some of the animals were our pets, and playing with them was a part of how the stories were formed. Some characters were shared from my own childhood, as well. They include real, and animal characters that were children's toys, used in imaginative play. Some were not toys or pets, just another living thing. Recently, the short stories have been revised to be enjoyed by any age, and by children and those who read to them, and who use imagination in their playtime. The book is not designed to intentionally teach very early reading skills, although it may be enjoyed by preschoolers being told a story. LITTLE MUSICAL ANIMALS includes some derivative and composite illustrations, drawn from commonly available images of such animals displayed in nature. Creatively decorating the illustrations with elements of the stories may be fun. Musical concepts are recognizable in some of the context of the stories.
