William Cody Cross lives in a really nice house in the up-scale town of Alpharetta, Georgia, and is about the best nine-year-old butterfly swimmer in all of Fulton County. But swimming back and forth and back and forth in a heated neighborhood pool is just so b-o-o-o-r-r-r-i-n-g! It would be much more fun, he dreams, to swim all the way across Lake Chickasaw to the evil kingdom of Cooper's Ridge. On the other side of the lake, Jackie McBride doesn't have it so good. Cooper's Ridge families are poor and don't have nice houses or heated neighborhood pools to swim in. But even though they live in a whole different world, Cooper's Ridge kids have dreams, too. In Eat My Bubbles, fate brings Cody and Jackie together, makes great pals of them, then sets them off to chase a dream. But, as usual, grownups get in the way and muck everything up. (And who knows what monsters lurk just beneath Lake Chickasaw's surface?)
