Growing up as a black kid in the backwoods of Texas in the 1930s. Dr. Swift was pulled out of school, at the age of 12, to chop cotton, 10 hours a day at 30 cents per hour. However, he continually dreamed that one day he would go to school like "other people" and get a good education so he could get a good job, not one filled with hard labor, sweat and tears. Little did he know that not only would Jehovah God answer his prayers, but would lead him on a journey that led him to giving his life over to Christ and ministering to many through being a Pastor of the church where he was baptized, as well as being a Christian counselor. Dr. Swift selected this title as he was mindful of what the Apostle Paul revealed to his young protégé, Pastor Timothy, recorded in 1st Timothy: "Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter days some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, (2) Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron." [1st Timothy 4:1-2]
