It has been said that all young marriages are tested and that marriage itself is a compromise with our animal nature. Stanley Kubrick's film, Eyes Wide Shut (1999) starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise (who were actually married at the time of the filming) explored the theme that marriage is always under siege. What California Dreaming asks is, will the marriage of Lindsey, who is a woman's magazine editor, and Dana, who is a newspaper reporter set on practicing "participatory journalism," survive the test of separation or will the temptations for both of them be too much?
