Most of us love a good story. Whether it's a classic love story, a good old-fashioned mystery, or an adventure on the high seas, stories capture our imagination and help us experience life beyond ourselves. Our personal stories lived out in the ordinariness of our day-to-day lives also have the capability to influence those with whom our lives intersect. Our stories help others gain perspective and understanding, wisdom and insight, patience and hope. The stories in this collection are the stories of thirteen men and women who offer us a front-row seat, not just to their own experiences but to history. Born during or just after The Great Depression, most of their earliest memories begin with World War II and continue through all the twists and turns and highs and lows that followed. As history unfolded around them, they married, had children, worked, laughed, and loved. Through this collection, we have the unique opportunity to hear from the "the silent generation." We would be wise to listen and learn.
