Leading Across Cultures in Practice Fernando Lanzer
Leading Across Cultures in Practice
Fernando Lanzer
The book has three parts. In Part 1, the author presents Geert Hofstede's framework of cultural value-dimensions and explains it in plain language, exploring its application by describing many examples. In Part 2, Lanzer describes the cultures of six different nations (United States, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Germany, China and Brazil) as seen through the lens of the Hofstede model, and provides again many examples illustrating how theoretical concepts are applied in practice. In the last part of the book, the author addresses some contentious issues about culture and their implications. It is indeed a very practical book, focused on translating academic theory into plain language and how to apply concepts in day-to-day situations.
