A man uses a three-hundred-year-old law to steal his closest friends' home. In a case steeped in death, destruction and duplicity, Ernest Schreiber tries to do the next to impossible on behalf of his beleaguered clients-change the law that allowed this to happen and get their home back. His chances are slim to none, especially since another lawyer tried the case, and Ernest is left with only the appeal. Looming in the background are backdoor deals and deep prejudices that make next to impossible even more difficult.
