Since she was a young girl, Minou Hexspoor has written furiously. When there weren't enough blank pages, she turned to the margins of books, school desks, exams, napkins, tablecloths, and even doors to keep the words flowing. In this debut collection of poems, Hexspoor shows the strong messages poetry can convey, through an honest and often times raw writing style.



In the first section of Acres of Love, "Yearning," a woman foresees the arrival of new love. The speaker is wistful and passionate. She recalls how this new romance has reawakened different parts of herself and reminded her of truths she has long forgotten.

"Quenching" shows the unbearable agony of passion the lovers feel for each other. Romance becomes fierce fixation and the connection between lust and love become complicated. In the midst of the fiery imagery and erotic moments come sweet, light breaths of fresh air.



If "Quenching" takes you to the heights of erotic pleasure and passion, "Untangling" forces you back down to earth. The speaker isn't as confident as she once was. Will this explosion of love last, or have the perfect moments already come and gone? The reader and writer will discover this together...
