She encounters Kermode, the fabled white spirit bear, while encouraged by memories of her grandfather who taught her how to live and survive in the forest. A violent windstorm nearly ends her life. Hers is a story of courage and resolve despite difficult circumstances. The setting is northern Vancouver Island on the Pacific Northwest coast of British Columbia. It is a heartwarming story for teens and older. Anon Jáadaa is a nom-de-plume for the Canadian artist, poet, and mentor, who lives on the Pacific Northwest coast of British Columbia.
