A musical journey through a literary classical soundtrack! Number 200 tells a complex and somewhat disturbing love story based on an inappropriate relationship laced with lies and deception over the course of several decades. The story follows a complete year in the life of Gina Goretti, freelance musician in New York City. It is a story of perseverance through difficult times alongside a rare instrument, Steinman's flute number 200, and its scandalous journey back into her hands. Along the way, secrets of Gina's family are revealed as well as her own. History repeats itself through the lives of three generations of women, starting back in Collecorvino, Italy, through their migration toward a land where there would always be enough food. Despite her family's poverty and famine, Gina battles the demon of anorexia in her life. She learns to understand the inner turmoil of her flawed psychological foundation. Her Italian Catholic roots lead her to seek healing through the aid of an eccentric priest who highlights the importance of forgiveness and the ethos of love. Number 200 is based on truth with just enough fiction thrown in to water down the black and white facts of reality into the gray matter of fictional possibilities. Through fiction, through the cowardice of anonymity, words could be written to allude to the flute's secrets. Oh, happy the use of the nom de plume, the alias, the pseudonym! Oh, happy the fact that forgiveness, like all grace, is a gift.
