Before you were incarcerated how many letters did you write? Not e-mails, but actual thought out letters written by hand with care. I don't think I'd written a letter to anyone since my last grandmother died, about a decade before my arrest. After my arrest I wrote more letters than I could count. I wrote my children, my wife, my parents, my pastor and friends. I wrote to elected officials and people I saw on TV. The written word became powerful because it was a way I that I knew I could receive communication, pure and powerful, from people who loved and cared for me. The Epistles, letters written by some of the first Christians to individuals and congregations, are God's letters to us. They are powerful. They contain life giving truth. They strengthen our faith. Hearing God's word brings forgiveness and hope. It's a forgiveness that is written for you! I hope and pray that as you ponder these devotions you will hear and receive God's word of forgiveness written for you. I hope and pray that you will be strengthened by God's message of love for you. I hope and pray God will heal you and transform you into His child like God did for me.
