My Nia, My Purpose is the story of how I became a single parent to my Speical Needs daughter Nia and grew as a man in return. Nia's diagnosis of Autism began a new chapter in my life that is still being written today. The responsibility of being the parent of a Special Needs Child caused some doors to open and others to close shut for me. I needed to first learn the impact Autism would have on our lives and how I could help Nia become the best person possible. My doubts about my abilities were always at hand and rising above them proved challenging. I leaned on family and friends to gain a perspective on the job I did raising Nia. Words of wisdom and a simple shoulder to cry on were enough to keep my hopes up. In my determination to prove to everyone I could raise Nia alone, I thought I had to defer my dreams. It was Nia and her needs that came first, there was no room for what I wanted. Along the way I learned that I had could not find happiness if I could not forgive my past. My Nia, My Purpose takes the reader on my journey that made many praise me for the job I had done as a single father and how knowledge and understanding was the bridge to my understanding my child.
