Ashling doesn't understand the oddities in her upbringing, until she learns some of the family secrets: 1. Her father is from the distant future. 2. On her twentieth birthday she must return with him to his native time. Future Earth suffers a critical shortage of women and Ashling must do her part in saving humanity from extinction. She leaves her sheltered childhood in the past, bracing herself for the future and for the line of men who wish to court her. Life with her selected husbands becomes one delicious encounter after another. But when her father is accused of a crime, the only person willing to help him happens to be the one man Ashling can't have--and the one she wants most.
