Only in Chicago?
Sharron Divita Credle
This is a short story loosely based on my life about family, about life and the struggles that come from living in the here and now. Because the truth is, no matter where you live, all families are defined by their own version of a "State of Mind." It tells the story of a family growing up on the Southside of Chicago. Their story isn't always pretty, but through their tales of triumphs, dysfunction, courage, and grit, my hope is we can all learn how to embrace a new way of life. It captures Karsen Kennedy's 'Southside State of Mind' experiences, telling what happened, what she saw, and what she felt growing up on the Southside of Chicago and how it impacted her life experiences. Finally, it is written to, of course, share the authors' perspective of the great city she was born and raised in, with the hope and desire that anyone reading this book can relate to the tale as a whole or via the more intimate stories of the family members depicted. This book is rooted in lessons of courage, love, forgiveness, and shifting of mindsets.
