World War II is looming and there's a race to develop an atomic bomb. The United States and Germany have knowledge of nuclear fission but they lack the key component to bring a nuclear chain reaction to detonation. Jessica Troike, a nuclear physicist at the University of Chicago discovers the key component. But before the bomb can be tested the component is stolen by Peggy, a German agent posing as a Soviet spy. Peggy acquires the bomb's key component and replaces it with a fake. She uses sex to seduce anyone who opposes her and then kills them with a special knife. Her motive is not Fascism but greed. Wolfgang, a friend of Jessica's, comes to her aid. He regains possession of the component only to have it stolen again, or was it? In a final confrontation between Peggy, Jessica, and Wolfgang the fate of the free world hangs in the balance.
