Widowed school teacher Spencer Riley prepares to go to Colorado to spend Christmas with his mother. His daughter, Starr, although loves her grandmother, prefers a more fun Christmas and even if they are going to go to Colorado, would prefer they go by airplane, but Spencer loves the scenery of nature more and always likes driving in his old pick up truck which Starr hates.
