When Cordova first became an eternal, she was given two warnings. One: Only decapitation and dark magic could kill her. Two: beware of vampires, as they like to make pets of eternals. She's trained for the first warning, and has even fought down an eternal bent on killing her, permanently. She's avoided vampires, as much as she can, but fate seems to have other plans for her after she takes a freelance case for the Supernatural Affairs Unit (SnAfU for short) to track down a sniper targeting those in the magical community. Almost immediately, she finds herself a prisoner in an underground vampire stronghold. What's more, no help is forthcoming, since her partner, Arte Booke, has a case of his own. He is seeking to cure a man that has been cursed to being unable to tell the truth. To do this, he must enlist the aid of people he has been resolutely avoiding: his own family. Meanwhile, Milo is busy facing perhaps the greatest foe of all: City Hall. Can Cordova save herself from the vampire nest?
