Riah always thought her father was normal. The kind of single dad who worked hard, and went hiking, and did his best to bring her up on his own. Sure, he had some serious opinions on knives, and cared a little too much about good camping gear, but who didn't?


So when an elf, a real, live, pointy-ears-and-bow elf appeared in their living room with a call to arms, Riah has some questions that suddenly seem a whole lot more urgent. As it turns out, her father has been keeping some secrets. Mostly about how he used to be the hero of a different world, complete with a magical sword, and a destiny he can't escape.

When disaster strikes, Riah discovers that maybe her father isn't the only hero in their family. After all, what good is magic if you can't use it to pick a fight with an evil sorcerer?
