After the creek rose and washed away their home, Marigold and Grandpappy Brookfield move to Texas to live with the old man's youngest son. Soon trouble starts. Several of the town's leading citizens are out for revenge and Stu Brookfield is charged with being the notorious outlaw, The Nevada Kid. Being a friendly girl, Marigold had befriended the town's idiot, Happy Considine. Together they set out to prove Stu Brookfield is being framed. Along the way, Marigold makes some surprising discoveries.
