Days of endangered mortals
Eva van Beek
10th of December: Human Rights Day "All the force we put into preventing others from entering will eventually form a wall where nothing and no one ever enters at all. We will croak alone in a princesstower full of fancynothings..." "I took the liberty to use the dates of the 'International Days' created by the United Nations to head my poems. These days remind us that that something is wrong and needs to change. My poetry might not trigger those necessary changes. But it is my way of expressing pain and outrage over the deteriorating conditions on our planet." Eva van Beek has worked as a librarian, a journalist, a columnist, and a writer for a women's magazine . She published her novel "Der private Himmel" (in German, available online), and worked as a communication consultant predominantly for international humanitarian organisations such as Doctors Without Borders and the United Nations. This work took her to several countries on the African continent as well as to India. What she experienced during her mandates has inspired her writing.
