Al Swearengen (1845-1904) was a notorious pimp, gambler, and degenerate - and those were his finer qualities. At the age of only 17, he was already determined to leave his bloody mark on the world. So when he and his pregnant wife Nettie arrived at the Lost Creek mining camp in the summer of 1862, Al set his mind to raising a stake for his unborn son. His scheme: hustling prize fights between the locals and his ringer, a runaway slave named Hank. But the camp's brutal boss, "Bloody Mary" Graves, had no interest in Al or his schemes... unless she could trick him into disposing of the only witness to her husband's murder.
