The story suggests to the reader that a man is a product of those circumstances surrounding him, through infancy and childhood up until becoming an adult. Would this proviso holds true for the hero, who, throughout his life maintained himself in a euphoric state by the use of drugs, until by chance he suddenly awakens to the realities of the practical world. Even though innocent, as a man always on the right side of the law, he suddenly finds himself snatched off a public urban footpath for questioning; and just as suddenly he has a murder charge pinned to him, from which he is convicted and sentenced to death! Not a penny to his name to even buy needful necessities, or a lawyer, he sits in prison and recalls the words of that itinerant Buddhist monk of an earlier time! That advice? "That tool... Will-power! Find the part of it applicable to the need and use it!" Coming to the end, that was all, it took! A man suddenly finds life's road ahead of him has been closed. He can neither go further forward nor could he go back! He could though, look back at the life he now has lived: the errors generally leading up to his present predicament! Even of alternative options had he earlier chosen, he might have discovered something... A promise of a meaningful existence. Notwithstanding all! He, at this already late hour, decisively plumps to make amends for the errors of his ways that they may become like a torch, specifically to light up for others following in his foot tracks, the potential chasm ahead of them. A brilliantly painted and powerful psychological novel.
