From a broken home on the wrong side of the tracks in wealthy Palm Springs, California, eighteen-year-old Nadine Forbes struggles at her waitressing job at the Spring's coffee shop to put herself through college; her goal - to rise above the poverty of her upbringing and become a successful business woman. Twenty-eight-year-old Roger Lewis, the divorced owner of the coffee shop where Nadine works, is captivated by the lovely and determined Nadine, but also frustrated by her rejection of him.
