"On the Subject of Human Beings" is about love, shoon, death, and spite. Sands is an alien researcher holing up on the empty Earth and finishing his dissertation on humankind-the extinct species he was studying. But the lonesome, unsympathetic xenothropologist finds himself coerced into attempting-yet again-to rescue the subjects of his paper. When Sands journeys to a time before a zombie epidemic ended human life on Earth, he discovers mysteries behind the apocalypse. With visions of a lost love before him, scents of a loose virus behind him, and memories of loose lips linked to his false hips everywhere he turns, Sands reluctantly quests to save the thesis-monkeys. This short comic novel mentions William Shakespeare by name as it wends its way to a not-too-expensive conclusion.
