This book provides an introduction to the Internet Of Things (IOT). It mainly uses the ESP8266 micro-controller to teach both hardware, and software, concepts. It uses the "C" programming language and the Arduino programing environment, with labs, to help teach the use of interfacing the micro-controller to various peripheral devices. It even teaches how to communicate wirelessly with your Internet computer or cell phone to the micro-controller.
