Do you like stories? I have never met anyone who didn't enjoy a good story. Yet often when historical events are told whether in books or by speakers, historical characters are marginalized to a list of facts presented in a mundane manner that can make a memorable historical event rather forgettable. Personally, I was inspired to to tell the story of the most influential man who ever lived from the perspective of an individual who has the unofficial distinction of being the greatest eyewitness who ever lived. I want you to imagine this historical scenario. The Year is 98 A. D. In Ephesus there is a man who was born a Galilean, the younger son to a father who had a thriving fishing business. He would go on to be the youngest of the original twelve apostles of Jesus. History chronicles this man as the Apostle John, who in his final years would train young men like Polycarp and Papias to become leaders in the church as the second century approaches. The Apostle John is a man of great contrasts. John is called one of the "sons of Thunder" but he is also referred to as "the Apostle of Love." Of the four Gospel writers John had the most basic education yet his Gospel is the deepest theologically. By describing the life of Jesus Christ in chronological order through the perspective of the Apostle John each book will combine historical accuracy and theological truth in a creative and unique manner that is both impacting and memorable. This first book of the series includes chronicling events in Jesus life and ministry such as His birth, baptism by John the Baptist, temptation by Satan in the wilderness, first miracle at Cana, first cleansing of the Temple, and dialogues with Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman at the well, all from the perspective of the Apostle John, the Beloved Disciple.
