When you've waited years for summer to come, and dream of blue skies, vineyards and orange trees, it's time to Google, "best place in the world to live." In Portugal, drive as far north as you can and then start climbing. In the hill villages the wine and orange juice are free, goats and cows roam the roads, and there are only three months in the year when the roses don't bloom. Here men don't use mobile phones - they shout, women all have the same name, and there is a festival at least once a week. Of course there are a few going-on which may challenge the newcomer. But, in this "best world in a place," at least you're not the stranger you thought you were - you've been loved for 600 years.
