Through both casual and intense conversations I have had with most men I met there is usually one thread that we all find common ground in. It is likely we all have had some sort of difficulty with intimacy and love. This book is merely me coming clean about my shortcomings and thoughts on those topics. I was told that hindsight is 20/20, I agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment. Especially after reflecting on some of my important relationships that have gone awry. Whether it was because I was afraid of love and intimacy, or I was not in the right mind state for it, or I abused it; I am writing this book with hopes you can learn from my mistakes. I am not writing this because I feel I have all the answers or I want to be the next love guru. I am just a man whose has been on every side of the spectrum and I can honestly say there is nothing sweeter than being present in the state of love. I am not sure when it was normalized, but the notion that masculinity is supposed to be a certain way is problematic for my personal growth. Society keeps instilling in males the notion of love or being vulnerable is a weakness, and that could not be further from the truth. "To The Women I Loved" is a poetic memoir; a peak at my diary where I expose myself for myself. Poetry has always been my preferred method of expression and my most consistent relationship. Every time crisis struck or I had trouble working through issues I always turned to the page. I do not know a better way of showing you who I am and what I am about than this. I just hope you receive its intention.
